National School Breakfast Week

National School Breakfast Week was launched in 1989 by the School Nutrition Association to highlight the importance of school breakfast programs and the positive impact they have on students. The week is celebrated each year to encourage schools and families to recognize how a healthy breakfast supports learning and student success.

The school breakfast program itself began in 1966 when the United States Congress established the School Breakfast Program to help ensure that children—especially those who may not have access to nutritious meals at home—start their day with the fuel they need.

Breakfast is often called “the most important meal of the day,” and for students it can make a big difference. Research shows that students who eat breakfast are more focused, have better attendance, and perform better academically. School breakfast programs also help promote healthy eating habits and make sure students have the energy they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

National School Breakfast Week is a reminder that something as simple as a morning meal can help set students up for a successful day in the classroom. 🥣📚✨
