Shop Teacher

Position: Part-time woodshop and meta s hop teacher for middle and high school

Organizational Unit: Glenwood Education Association

Reports to: Superintendent

Part Time: 1 day per week

We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year as a part-time Metals and Wood shop teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metals and woods, with either CTE certification or significant industry experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging curriculum metals and woods, tailored to meet the needs and interests of middle and high school students.

  • Foster a hands-on learning environment where students can explore and apply concepts related to metalworking and woodworking.

  • Willingness to collaborate with local community colleges to establish dual credit opportunities for students, providing them with a head start on their post-secondary education and career pathways.

  • Willingness to work with Career Connect Southwest and Rural CTE Cooperative to align curriculum with industry standards and ensure students are prepared for success in the workforce.

  • Integrate 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity into lesson plans to prepare students for the demands of the modern workplace.

  • Implement innovative teaching strategies to engage students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students interested in pursuing careers in metals and woods.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to create interdisciplinary learning experiences that promote real-world connections and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Industrial Design, or a related field preferred.

  • CTE certification or significant industry experience in metals or woods preferred.

  • Experience teaching 21st-century skills and integrating technology into the classroom.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and industry partners.

  • Passion for inspiring and empowering students to explore careers in aerospace manufacturing, metals, woods, and artistic design.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and best practices in CTE education.
